Common Terms:
- Dwelling: Covers the dwelling and structures permanently attached to the dwelling.
- Dwelling Replacement Cost: In the event of a natural disaster, this coverage will
provide you additional protection above your policy limit to help replace your home
(subject to policy limitations).
- Other Structures: Covers buildings on the described premises that are separated from
the dwelling by a clear space.
- Personal Property: Covers unattached contents owned or used by an insured at the
residence premises. (Coverage for personal property off premises varies. Please see your
agent for details.)
- Personal Property Replacement Cost: Allows you to replace damaged or stolen household
items at today's retail prices, regardless of their orginal cost (up to your policy limit).
- Loss of Use: If your home is uninhabitable as a result of a covered claim, this
coverage will pay for normal living expenses you incur as a result of living elsewhere.
- Personal Liability: Covers if you, a family member or your pets become legally
responsible for accidental bodily injury or property damage on your premises or elsewhere.
(Does not include automobile or business liability.)
- Medical Payments: Covers actual medical expenses for accidental injury to others
(excluding household residents) caused by you, family members or your pets, regardless of
legal liability.
- Deductible: The portion of a property claim that you are required to pay before
the company will pay for a covered accident.
- Special Personal Property: No specific causes of covered loss are named in the
policy. Thus, the burden is on the insurance company to show that a loss is excluded rather
than on you to show that some specifically named cause of loss damaged your property.
